An awesome first track invitational by the Timberwolves!  FANTASATIC EFFORT for the T-Wolfs and some athletes with only a 3-4 weeks of practice.  All the coaches were extremely happy with our first track meets of the season.  Even though our athletes are not in racing shape and the weather was cool, there were some fine performances by our team. Saturday the NHS teams medaled in 23 out of the 26 relays!  WOW!  That includes running and field events.  What an impressive start to the long season. The Northwood boys finished in 2nd place as a team and the girls finished in 1st place in the relay invite. SO much for being good host and letting the other teams get some medals and trophies. The following relays won first place medals: BOYS 4x800 Relay with Santino Diaz Garcia, Hakeem Ebrahim, Trey McEwen and Logan Shaw.  GIRLS 4x100 Relay with Lauren Park, Nicole Theodorou, Maya Marfatia and Averie Hernadez. GIRLS 4x200 Relay with Lauren Park, Nicole Theodorou, Maya Marfatia and Averie Hernadez. GIRLS 4x400 Relay with Lucia James, Victoria Paez, Saerin Hwang and Emma Walton MIXED 4x400 Relay with Jaedon Marvel, Emma Walton, Cole Hidalgo and Maya Marfatia .

Thursday the team competed against Yorba Linda HS in warmer conditions.  Some standout performances were made in the open divisions.  Double winner Justin Hong(both hurdles). Kayla Chueng  in the (800).  Kavin Kumar n the (1600m) . Nicole Theodorou won both long and short hurdles at the varsity level.   Charlie Collins-WIlliams won both 800m and1600 at the varsity level.

Athletes of the week honors would have to go to THE BOYS DISTANCE MEDLEY who won the Invitational Division 1 DMR.  The boys team consisted of Santino Diaz Garcia, Alex Ellis, Trey McEwen and Logan Shaw. The quartet shattered the school record by more than 30 seconds and we are sure to hear more about these four athletes throughout the season.

Friday and Saturday is the Irvine Invitational. (Selected athletes will compete).  The preseason is over and we are prepared for our first league meet on March 13.  We have implemented practice in all events and have made improvements in the 3200m, triple jump, discus and hurdles.  Our runners are in shape and the preseason soreness has diminished.  Varsity athletes will be determined this week.  If you are chosen to compete at the Varsity level, please grasp the challenge and focus all your efforts into helping the Timberwolves compete at a high level.  Remember it is a privilege to compete Varsity and you should congratulate yourself on your efforts.  If you did not make our Varsity team continue to work hard at your level and look for improvement.  Our team is much stronger than in years past and therefore most incoming freshman/sophomores have been kept at the proper levels.  We have a very solid team in all events and at all levels. We will provide our league with fierce competition in all divisions.  Each athlete will either compete on (boys or girls Varsity), (boys or girls JV) or (boys or girls F/S).
