“The spirit of running is to feel your own pain” Jorge Pena

An awesome first track invitational by the Timberwolves! Fantastic effort by the T-Wolves and by many athletes who have only had 3–4 weeks of practice. All the coaches were extremely happy with our first invite meet of the season. Even though our athletes are not yet in peak racing shape and the weather was windy, there were still many outstanding performances from our team. On Saturday, the NHS teams medaled in 15 out of 26 relays—wow! That includes both running and field events. What an impressive start to what promises to be a long and exciting season.

🔥 Overall Team Takeaways

This meet shows:

✔ Strong relay teams
✔ Excellent sprint depth
✔ Competitive jumpers
✔ Growing distance squad depth
✔ Multiple underclassmen contributing

For a first invitational with only a few weeks of practice, this is a very promising start.

That kind of depth is rare for early season meets.

This Friday and Saturday is the Irvine Invitational, where selected athletes will compete. We have implemented practice across all events and have already made improvements in the 3200m, triple jump, discus, and hurdles. Our runners are getting into shape and the preseason soreness has begun to diminish.

Varsity athletes will be determined this week. If you are chosen to compete at the Varsity level, embrace the challenge and focus all your efforts on helping the Timberwolves compete at the highest level. Remember, it is a privilege to compete at Varsity—congratulate yourself on your hard work.

If you did not make the Varsity team, continue working hard at your current level and focus on improving. Our team is stronger than in years past, so most incoming freshmen and sophomores have been placed at the appropriate levels.

We have a very solid team across all events and all levels, and we will provide our league with fierce competition in every division.

Each athlete will compete on either Boys Varsity, Girls Varsity, Boys JV, Girls JV, Boys F/S, or Girls F/S.
